The Fourth Trimester & Breastfeeding
The Golden Month
Congratulations!!! You’ve had your baby and now you are navigating the new baby storm, or you are preparing for that fourth trimester and wanting to learn all there about breastfeeding and how to make it a smooth transition! This is such a special time for your family, and it is often referred to as the Golden Month. This is a once in a lifetime, never to be had again, first month after your baby arrives, and it deserves extra special care!
This Golden Month is where you should be staying close to home, resting, feeding, learning about your newborn, bonding with your newborn, nourishing your body and blocking out that busy world that is only going to overstimulate you and your baby.
We’ve put some tips together on How to Make the Most of Your Golden Month, so enjoy this post and follow the recommendations for a smooth transition to parenthood.

Breastfeeding may be natural, but for many mums it doesn’t just come naturally, and we all need support to be confident in breastfeeding and our own mama intuition.
Whether you are pregnant or are already breastfeeding, it is normal to have lots of questions and need lots of support to help establish successful feeding.
Just remember that breastfeeding (like anything) takes lots of practice, definitely lots of patience and the right support to help you.
Naomi Hull is a lactation consultant that joined us for our Ask The Expert segment, where lots of our mums were able to jump onto facebook to ask their questions. We compiled a post with all of the questions and answers so that you have them at your fingertips: Read All The Common Breastfeeding Questions Answered!

Did you experience feelings of sadness, guilt and a deep sense of loss over an experience you longed to have with your little one?
For so many women, breastfeeding is immensely challenging — many would say it’s harder than giving birth.
Amberley has put together a modern, cutting edge video series for the modern mother. We recommend our couples purchase these videos before their baby arrives, so they are feeling prepared for breastfeeding right from the start.
Purchase the 4 Series Video Breastfeeding Package
The 4 series video package is normally $99, but Amberley has gifted our HypnoBirthing families a $20 discount by using the coupon code BOOBS20
This Golden Month does require patience, confidence and support. Many of our practitioners are Postnatal Doulas, so if you require extra support, jump over to the directory to find a postnatal doula near you.
The Australian Breastfeeding Association is a great resource, and if you need extra support, you will find a list of lactation consultants near you.
If you are not feeling well and are finding this time challenging, reach out to your GP for a referral to a specialist.
