Growing up all the stories I heard about giving birth sounded scary, and what I saw in the movies seemed to back up what I as hearing. It was something that you needed a team of medical staff for because otherwise the baby would be in trouble, mums needed help to deliver babies. The catch phrase for this was always ‘as long as the baby is ok.’
But what if baby and mum can be better than ok… what if the whole family could look back on that time and feel immense joy, power and pure love…
With my second baby in my belly I came across HypnoBirthing and thought it sounded like a great idea to learn how to cope, but what I found was a plethora of useful information about the physiology of my body and how it has been designed for birth. I realised that due to my fears around birthing my body was not given an opportunity to show me how incredible it truly is first time round. I learnt that by having trust and faith in my own ability to birth I could have a peaceful and joyful experience.
When the big day came I felt prepared and was rewarded with the most amazing experience of my life! By bodies innate wisdom took over and I birthed my sweet little boy comfortably and felt totally connected to him through out the entire birth. My partner was really supportive and took care of my needs intuitively allowing baby and I to stay connected.
Birth really is wonderful!
Now I want to share HypnoBirthing with as many women and families as I can. One day I hope that women here in Australia will gather around and laugh and smile about how great their birthing experience was. Discuss this incredible peak performance of their bodies as a rite of passage to be proud of, a very special time to reflect on as their precious little gifts enter the world. A moment in time that bonds the family together and sets up the foundation for a loving and caring life.
