I attended HypnoBirthing classes as a mum with my own pregnancy more than 9 years ago. I was so blown away by my calm birth and the elements that HypnoBirthing added to my life that I had to train as a practitioner to show other mums & dads this wonderful philosophy of birth and have been teaching HypnoBirthing couples since 2010. As well as teaching HypnoBirthing, I am an aromatherapist and have a natural range of skincare and aromatherapy products for pregnancy and birth (https://aromazennaturals.com.au/) and conduct consultations in aromatherapy. As I love being involved in the very precious journey of pregnancy and motherhood, I am also a prenatal massage therapist and an infant massage instructor.
The pregnant mother and her birth partner get taught a variety of techniques to promote a more comfortable and relaxed labour and ultimately a more confident and informed birth experience.

Growing up all the stories I heard about giving birth sounded scary, and what I saw in the movies seemed to back up what I as hearing. It was something that you needed a team of medical staff for because otherwise the baby would be in trouble, mums needed help to deliver babies. The catch phrase for this was always ‘as long as the baby is ok.’
But what if baby and mum can be better than ok… what if the whole family could look back on that time and feel immense joy, power and pure love…
With my second baby in my belly I came across HypnoBirthing and thought it sounded like a great idea to learn how to cope, but what I found was a plethora of useful information about the physiology of my body and how it has been designed for birth. I realised that due to my fears around birthing my body was not given an opportunity to show me how incredible it truly is first time round. I learnt that by having trust and faith in my own ability to birth I could have a peaceful and joyful experience.
When the big day came I felt prepared and was rewarded with the most amazing experience of my life! By bodies innate wisdom took over and I birthed my sweet little boy comfortably and felt totally connected to him through out the entire birth. My partner was really supportive and took care of my needs intuitively allowing baby and I to stay connected.
Birth really is wonderful!
Now I want to share HypnoBirthing with as many women and families as I can. One day I hope that women here in Australia will gather around and laugh and smile about how great their birthing experience was. Discuss this incredible peak performance of their bodies as a rite of passage to be proud of, a very special time to reflect on as their precious little gifts enter the world. A moment in time that bonds the family together and sets up the foundation for a loving and caring life.

HypnoBirthing Practitioner & Midwife
As a midwife of 30 years I have cared for many women in labour, and this has been complemented over the past 9 years as a HypnoBirthing practitioner.
It has been extremely rewarding to have been witness to many women whom I have taught the HypnoBirthing program, achieve a calm, rewarding birth experience, free of intervention. The natural euphoric feeling post birth is palpable among all those involved in the birthing experience when a woman relaxes into her birthing body, completely trusting in it’s innate ability. Birthing is as it should be.
Learn ways to achieve a natural and gentle birthing experience. Through the HypnoBirthing program I can teach you how to thoroughly relax, let go of fear and tension, and trust in your body’s ability to orchestrate birth with such precision. Once you have learnt these skills, you will be on the road to having the best possible birthing experience.

Our practice has grown from our desire to provide women and their families with the best care possible throughout their childbearing journey. We believe that it is essential that women have more choices in their maternity care and who provides this care for them. My Midwives Melbourne South East believe it is imperative that women are given the chance to experience one on one midwifery care from the moment they are pregnant, until their baby is six weeks old. By developing a one to one relationship, throughout your maternity care midwives are able to respond to the unique needs and concerns of each mother. Developing a relationship with a known midwife built on trust and respect for one another enables women to feel more empowered and involved throughout their pregnancy, birth and postnatal care.

Meet our Midwives
Nicolle and Michelle
After going into the birth of my first son blindly and having a birth that left me feeling traumatised, I wanted to make sure the birth of my second son was positive and left me feeling empowered and confident in my body’s ability. So I signed up to do the HypnoBirthing International Course at 35 weeks pregnant, the subsequent HypnoBirth of my son was such a beautiful liberating experience and such a contrast to my first. I am thrilled to now be able to share this gift with families so they can have their best birthing day just like I did.
I grew up with the stories of my mother’s birth experiences imprinted in my mind. Suffice to say they weren’t instilling me with confidence & I was petrified of birth. So when it was time for my husband and I to start our own family, I knew I wanted my own stories to be different. I wanted to challenge the notion that you must endure pain to become a mother; I didn’t think this had to be my ‘right of passage’ as a woman.
I was studying alternative therapies at the time, so I sought insight into alternate ways of birthing. Not only was my search for a calm birth experience fueled by wanting a better birth for myself but also by seeking a way for my husband to best support me during birth, given his extreme fear of hospitals.
So together we sought alternatives and it was through the HypnoBirthing program that we gained a new-found confidence about the birthing experience. The use of practical tools and sound knowledge meant my husband felt equipped to help me; he knew he could offer genuine assistance and not just sit in the corner feeling nauseous!
The Hypnobirthing program gave us both a way to release the negative feelings we had towards childbirth and allowed us to enjoy the most incredible, natural, peaceful birthing experience together.
It was this process of helping my husband find a way to be the best birthing partner he could be, plus eradicating the fears that had been preordained, that allowed me to have an incredibly empowering childbirth. So much so, that I couldn’t help but share the knowledge and methodology with others. And so from this birth, Acacia Wellness was born.
Like my family, Acacia Wellness has grown into something very special. My classes are fun and held in warm, relaxed environments; you’ll leave feeling educated, supported and confident. But it’s not all serious and sensible all the time!! In fact, conversations often veer off to things non-baby related, but still within my realm of passion – terrible reality TV (The Bachelor in particular, although I feel I need to do 5 years feminist penance after each viewing!), the Kardashians and 90s alternative music (think Radiohead and Nirvana.)
I’m so very passionate about helping families grow through calm beginnings. I look forward to supporting your family through this beautiful time in your lives.
I have taught HypnoBirthing in Geelong since 2008. I am very passionate about empowering parents to achieve the birth they want and I love teaching HypnoBirthing®. I get a real buzz when I hear from the couples I have taught that they have had a great birth and I look forward to teaching many more couples in the future.
